Pearlcatchers' Director of Customer Operations, Sharon Young was honoured to be invited onto the panel of judges and act as presenter for one of the major Event Industry awards at the internationally-renowned EIBTM exhibition in Geneva, Switzerland on May 20.
The winner of the highly prized "Best Product Launch" category was Oliver Schrott Kommunikations of Germany for the successful re-launch of the Maybach Zeppelin, the new flagship brand of DaimlerChrysler, one of Germany's most stately luxury automobiles of the 1930's.
The prestigious marque was re-launched using a multi-stage, media-oriented campaign mirroring the car's original slogan "A voyage on Land, on Water and in the Air". The Maybach travelled from Sindelfingen in Germany, to Southampton in the UK and then to New York, in an air-conditioned container on the sun deck of the legendary QEII. There, a cargo helicopter lifted the Maybach safely onto dry land.
Said Sharon Young: "The EIBTM awards pays tribute to the creative and innovative talent in the events industry and encourages quality of excellence around the globe. It was encouraging to see that even in the current tough climate of high-cost pressures and concerns over travel, the events industry is able to produce such imaginative and professional events. I was most impressed with the tremendous variety of basic concepts and novel executions, which included a car launch where dealers were accommodated with local families in a village rather than plush hotels � backing up the values of the brand."
The EIBTM exhibition moves to a new time slot and venue from 2004, when it will be held in Barcelona in November, following 16 very successful years in Geneva.
