10 Tips for Bringing more Laughter into your Life
1. Give yourself permission to laugh with other people when they laugh (even if you don’t get the joke !) Laugh because it feels good especially on those ‘No sense of humour days’.
2. Wake up in the morning with the intention to laugh long and often.
3. Look for humour around you – in the media, in funny things that people say and do. Keep a journal you can look back on.
4. Exercise your smile muscles while you think happy thoughts. A smile brings you closer to laughing.
5. Seek out entertainment that brings you a laugh. Movies, TV, DVD, cartoons, a tape of laughter or a laughing toy?
6. Be creative with fun and make sure you have fun. Silly socks?
7. Start an office/home notice board with funny pictures, stories, sayings, magic moments, jokes, cartoons etc.
8. Have a laughter break instead of a tea break.
9. Do a monthly laughter session for a group of willing participants after work on a Friday? You can start small. People will come in time.
10. Put up a sign saying ‘We don’t laugh because we’re happy. We are happy because we laugh’ (William James, philosopher 1842-1910)
