Each team is provided with personalized aprons, but only one chef's hat as your first task is to decide who will be your head chef for the evening. The team is advised what type of dish they will be cooking - we recommend either a starter or dessert, which can be eaten as part of their main meal later or something simple, like pizza - however the exact recipe is up to each team to decide. To add to the drama, a compulsory ingredient must be used in at least one of the dishes. This compulsory ingredient could be anything from chilies to Marmite to jelly. As you might imagine, the results can be hilarious!
Once the teams have decided on their basic recipe, they are given some basic ingredients and a budget, which they must utilize at the Food Auction to purchase their essential ingredients (or have a quick rethink). They may also hire the services of one of our facilitators (charged by the minute), who will not actually cook, but will provide advice and guidance for the team members.
If the team are not successful at purchasing all their desired ingredients, they will have the chance to enter 'Hell's Kitchen' and undertake a series of fiendish challenges to try and win additional supplies.
The teams then have to race against the clock to prepare their culinary masterpieces, which will then be marked by our team of discerning and outspoken judges - taking into account both taste and presentation. But win or lose, one thing is guaranteed - no one will go away hungry!
