Many famous actors will tell you that 'there's nothing like the smell of the greasepaint and the roar of the crowd'. Well we're not too sure about the greasepaint, but no one can deny the euphoria you feel when taking your bow in front of an appreciative audience. Add to that the thrill of working with a close team - all of whom have their own roles to play - to achieve something new and innovative in a short timescale and you have a truly rewarding and motivational experience.
Your task is to rehearse and perform a 5-10 minute scene from a famous play within a set time. All you need to do before the event is decide which shows you would like to perform from our list including:
We will prepare a 5-10 minutes script for each team - which can either be as the writer intended or personalised to your industry/organisation. For something a little different, you could follow the example of many Shakespeare productions and arrange for the scenes to be portrayed with unusual themes - for example A Midsummer's Night Dream in Outer Space, Grease in the Wild West or Phantom of the Opera in the Caribbean!
On the day, each team is given a different scene to perform with the help of our professional directors and choreographers. Within your own rehearsal area, you will be involved in script reading, casting, learning any song and dance numbers, preparing any sound or special effects and finally holding the infamous dress rehearsal. The teams will then reconvene and you will have the opportunity to support your colleagues as you watch each others' shows in our Gala Performance.
The event is rounded off by the directors who will give an account of each team's progress, including any funny or interesting stores and then present our very own Phoney awards to teams and individuals alike. Alternatively, we could organise a spoof award ceremony as part of your evening entertainment and/or a trip to the theatre - to see how you compare to the professionals!
